Welcome!

…to the website of the Weizenbaum Panel on Political Participation in Germany.

The annual telephone survey conducted by the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society in cooperation with the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at Freie Universität Berlin focuses on the social and political engagement of citizens in Germany. A particular focus is on changes in Internet usage patterns and political participation in the context of digitization. Phenomena such as hate speech or “fake news,” which people are confronted with on the Internet, as well as the active commitment to a democratic culture of debate are also part of the survey.

On this website, you will find detailed information on the aims and methodology of the panel study, instructions to use the survey data, and publications based on the panel survey. In addition, the website provides information on current surveys, events, calls for papers and media reports.

The panel is supervised by the research unit “Weizenbaum Panel” at the Weizenbaum Institute. We are happy to answer any questions and to provide more information on the survey data.
